The Practice of Commitment is honouring your desires by going after your goals.
We bring an obscene level of commitment by being willing to do whatever it takes, and then we do it consistently.
But HOW?
HOW do we get committed?
To me, this is the wrong question.
The thing we need to realize above all else is that the Practice of Commitment is our natural state.
Human beings are intensely goal-oriented.
We all want MORE.
More success, more love, more money, more self-esteem.
We are wired to always want to better our condition in some way.
So the question isn’t, “How do I get committed?”
The question is, “What’s blocking my NATURAL commitment and how do I remove the block?”
One obvious block to commitment is FEAR.
To achieve any goal, we have to put ourselves out there.
We have to take a risk, move out of our comfort zone, and confront the fear called, “What will people think?”
Since fear is painful, it’s a deterrent for most of us.
I once worked with a woman who delayed going to the university of her dreams for ten years because of what her father might think.
“After high school I would wanted a year off, but my grant was for the next year–and for the local college rather than the ‘real’ university I’d had my heart set on.
But Dad made it clear he wanted me close to home.
I even didn’t apply anywhere else. I ended up taking courses I didn’t need, from professors I didn’t respect, in a place I didn’t want to be.
I eventually flunked out, and was too humiliated to tell anyone. I carried the shame of this failure around for years.
It never occurred to me until recently that the fact that I never wanted to go to that college played a role in my poor grades.”
The fear of rejection and failure is never far from out minds.
Speaker Brian Tracy loves to ask, “What would you dare to dream if you KNEW you could not fail?”
He reports that that most people, when asked, tell him that if they knew they could not fail, they’d try just about anything!
This shows us the extent to which the fear of failure holds us back.
This is one reason I created my new Practice of Commitment audio/video program.
It’s a simple, five step process that will take you from blah to COMMITTED in less than an hour.
It’s easy, it’s fun, and I know it will work for you.
The best part is that I’m letting you snap it up for just a fraction of what we’ll be charging next month.
Go get it here.
